Culinary Adventure in Tuscany
Etruscan Coast of Tuscany including
Lucca and Florence

Join Addie and her friends as she leads you on an 8-day tour through the magnificent Etruscan coast of Italy.  This week long trip includes 7 nights in luxurious accommodations, two cooking classes, multiple food tastings, guided walking tours, all transportation on the tours, daily breakfasts, 4 lunches and 4 dinners (virtually all meals).

Arrive on Saturday in Pisa – and then it’s off to the wonderfully quaint town of Castagneto Carducci.  Here you’ll enjoy all that the elegant Grand Hotel Tombolo has to offer for 5 nights.  This 5 star hotel, built in the 1930’s, offers enchanting views of olive vineyards and the sea. Luxuriate in a full service spa while staying here. That evening we will get acquainted over cocktails followed by dinner at the hotel.

Sunday we will acquaint you with this region’s beautiful countryside.  Our bus will take us through La Strada del Vino (a delightful wine route) making stops along the way for you to sample the region’s famous cheeses, meats, olive oils and breads.  Lunch is in a charming country restaurant in Bolgheri (the town of renowned wine makers).  After free time in the late afternoon we will depart for a very special dinner in the town of Canneto.

A day in the beautiful countryside is where you’ll spend time cooking on Monday.  The morning will focus on learning how to make traditional Tuscan dishes, which will then be enjoyed by all for lunch! This ancient, beautifully restored farm is where oil, wine and vegetables are produced, all for us to experience.  Dinner is on your own, but you might want to spend a little time at the spa beforehand

The Market of Cecina is one of Tuesday's highlights.  Treasures abound – from shoes and dresses to cheeses and fish – you will relish the time spent in this lovely marketplace.  We will make a stop at the local macelleria (butcher), where we will learn the techniques of making prosciutto and salami, and of course sample them.  (“Lunch” will be multiple tastings and snacks).  The afternoon will be spent at the renowned vintner, Michele Satta, where we will have a wine tasting and demonstration.  Our evening finds us in the quaint town of Riparbella, where we will dine in a typical local restaurant, and meet the owner and chef.

Sample one of Italy’s finest olive oils on Wednesday while learning about how it is made. We will return to the hotel, where you may relax or explore the town of Castagneto Carducci on your own.  The evening will be spent cooking and dining with renowned Chef Giuliano Poggetti at Ristorante El Faro, a wonderful seaside restaurant specializing in fish, naturally.

We depart Castagneto Carducci on Thursday and stop in the marvelous walled city of Lucca. While here you will discover the medieval treasures of this immaculately preserved town. After our walking, shopping and tasting tour, we will enjoy lunch at a typical trattoria before departing for Florence.  Check in Hotel Lungarno, Florence.  Free afternoon in Florence.

The Hotel Lungarno, located on the Arno River, is known for its attentive and discreet service as well as breathtaking views of everything that gives Florence its fame.  Friday morning is for exploring the incredibly beautiful city of Florence together.  From the San Lorenzo Food Market, where you’ll enjoy tastings, to famous monuments, cultural points of interest, as well as shopping, this city is sure to captivate you.  The afternoon is on your own.  We will walk to a terrific local restaurant for very special last dinner.

After breakfast, Saturday is our day of departure.
